"5 Key Things to Booking Entertainment that Assures the Success of Your Company Event."

1. Choose an entertainment that is not easily accessible on television.

With technology like satellite television, home theaters, video games and the Internet, it’s getting harder and harder to get people to come out of their houses for entertainment. So, you want to entice them with something that they can’t get by just turning on a specific channel, popping in a video, or clicking a mouse.

2. Choose an entertainment that is interactive.

Having the entertainment be interactive creates interest and enthusiasm as the people are partaking instead of merely watching. Our society already has so many activities in which we merely watch, don’t you think?

This is a chance to have something fresh and engaging. So choose something (Mindreading Show) that they can participate and delight in. The enjoyment people get participating with their friends and co-workers makes an event more fun and memorable, doesn’t it?

This holds true even for events in which your main objective is to achieve a business goal. It is said that people learn and retain better when they are having fun.

3. Make sure the entertainer is versatile.

Does the entertainer have varying lengths of presentations that can fit into your party format? Does the entertainer have various styles (Numerology) of presentations?

These are important questions as it can also help you with the entertainment portion of the budget since you may be able to cover varied options from one source.

At the same time unless you're dealing with an agency that has multiple entertainers, you may wish to think twice before hiring an individual that says he can juggle, emcee, sing, do magic, make balloon animals, do impressions, tap dance, is a comedian, etc.

The old adage "Jack of all trades and master of none" is something to remember if the entertainer starts quickly listing in a monotone voice a long list of all his talents.

4. About references.

Don’t be afraid to ask for references. Any entertainer worth their salt should have plenty of references available. Be sure that the references that are sent to you are not all recent. This way the references will not only inform you of the quality of the entertainer, their presentation, and what others thought, but also establishes a track record.

If asked an entertainer may be able to provide you with specific types of references that are along the lines of the type of event that you are planning.

5. Have an idea of your entertainment budget.

The benefit to this is that the entertainer won’t be getting you excited about something that is outside your budget qualifications.

So often people hiring an entertainer treat the entertainment budget like a poker hand. Something to be held close to their chests and not revealed. This probably stems from the fear that the entertainer will raise his price to match their budget.

Actually closer to the truth is that the entertainer doesn’t want to lose the sale and so wishes to know the budget so that he can offer an option that most closely relates to your need and budget.

He does this not by lowering or raising his price on a set presentation. But by having multiple options that are at a different fee scale.

Any entertainer that simply lowers their price just to get the job should be avoided.

I hope these ideas have been helpful. Please feel free to contact me when making plans for a successful event.
